One of the typical dishes that are part of the gastronomy of San Cristobal de las Casas is the Sopa de Pan, which has a flavor that will completely captivate you.
The traditional Bread Soup (Sopa de Pan)
Bread soup is a mixture of two different cultures, on the one hand it was introduced to the country during the Spanish conquest and it was one of the dishes that was only enjoyed during the Holy Week vigil.
However, over time it was mixed with the culture of the Mayan people of Chiapas and evolved into the dish we know today.
It is worth mentioning that this dish is very important in the region and the most representative of San Cristobal de las Casas, because in 2006, during the Spring and Peace Fair of San Cristobal de las Casas, they prepared a huge bread soup that entered the Guiness Book of Records.
