This work was inaugurated in 1931 and was the result of the work of the hands of the sculptor Paul Landowski, a Polish-French, and Heitor da Silva Costa, a Brazilian engineer; who had the collaboration of the French Albert Caquot and Gheorge Leonida, a Romanian artist who was responsible for the face of Christ in this sculpture.
