Maya Cancun Museum
The Mayan Museum of Cancun, can be considered as the only museum in the city that pays tribute to the Mayan culture, its history and the most important historical events of the different eras, such as the classic, post classic and pre-Hispanic periods.
And not only keeps a large collection of figures and Mayan sculptures, in a small part outside the museum you can tour and enjoy the archaeological site of San Miguel, where you will find some Mayan ruins and a small pyramid hidden among the vastness of the hotels.
The Mayan Museum of Cancun is composed of 3 rooms and each one of them has a specific dedication to the deities, sculptures and history of the passage of civilization in the state of Quintana Roo and all of Mexico in general.
It is dedicated mainly to the archaeology of Quintana Roo, by means of a chronology of historical facts of the Quintana Roo coast.
This room covers topics such as the environment, origin, development and economic activities of the Mayas of the state of Quintana Roo, and other neighboring states such as Tabasco, Yucatan, Campeche and Chiapas; and others are works on loan from different museums in the region.
Temporary and borrowed exhibits from other museums in the country are presented here. Generally everything we find here is related to some kind of historical show or mystical dance that can be appreciated mainly on weekends.
